BMW 525, pros and cons

Review of BMW 525 2017

Greetings to all! I would like to talk about my BMW car. I won't write about the selection process due to its length; I will get straight to the point.

The car was of German assembly, with a mileage of 39 thousand kilometers at the time of purchase, with one owner. It has never been through insurance company payments, the body is not damaged/painted, and I can rate the condition of the chassis and the interior as excellent.

As a drawback, I would like to mention the condition of the front bumper, which had a large number of small chips. The previous owner used it for commuting to work, a 50 km one-way trip with highway mileage, which is not the worst option.

However, the paint layer thickness is quite low, indicating an attempt to save money on the part of the German manufacturer. This led to the appearance of such a large number of chips, as a layer of paint like that cannot withstand stone impacts.

A disappointing moment that surprised me was the low quality of the windshield and the glass on the front headlights, both heavily scratched with minor scratches. I had to polish the headlights, but I would gladly replace the windshield, not with an original one.

I opted for the simplest configuration, with forged wheels of 18 inches in diameter. I take care of them using specialized products from https://www.cordis.in.ua. The interior is leather in white, which I prefer as it feels more breathable. In the chosen configuration, everything suits me perfectly, with all aspects for driving in comfort:

  • dual-zone climate control,
  • ambient interior lighting with 5 colors,
  • various stabilizers and modes,
  • rearview camera,
  • joystick,
  • user-friendly onboard computer menu,
  • electric seat adjustment,
  • large pockets in the door cards,
  • ample space on the rear seats and in the trunk.

There is no sunroof, but I have never used it in my previous cars, nor the panoramic roof. I really miss seat ventilation and keyless entry because you get used to the good things quickly.

The multimedia system is straightforward, with speakers in the doors and tweeters on the panel. If the driver is not a picky audiophile, it suffices. The power unit is a 2-liter diesel engine, delivering 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

BMW 525, pros and cons

A car with this engine shows a decent result in terms of acceleration, reaching 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. When switching to sport mode, the dynamics change significantly, making the car much more agile.

The suspension stands out for its increased balance clarity, providing me with a lot of positive emotions as turns at high speeds and driving over bumps on peripheral roads are hardly felt.

The BMW's handling is excellent, needing no special mention, as it is superb, and that says it all. I only change the oil every 10,000 kilometers, along with filter replacements, despite the dealer's recommendation to change the diesel every 13-15 thousand kilometers.

In conclusion, I am pleased with the car; it fully meets my requirements and desires. Despite not being flashy in traffic and lacking grandeur, its pedigree is immediately felt. I will not change it for the next few years for sure. Thank you to everyone who managed to read the review in full.

Review of BMW 525 2006

Hello, everyone! Perhaps my review will be useful to someone as it is presented objectively. I searched for a suitable model for quite some time, as every model that seemed suitable at first glance had some flaws.

BMW 525, pros and cons

Now, let me talk about the positive qualities. The car itself is excellent, holds the road well, the chassis and interior design make a great impression. The paintwork quality is also good, with no signs of rust, scratches, or chips.

As for the negatives, increased oil consumption and the costly used engine can be highlighted. Selling the car will be challenging; I tried to do it for a year with little success.

The car I chose instead, a Korean-made KIA Sportage, cannot be compared to BMW in terms of comfort level, but I don't have to stop in the middle of the road on the highway and lift the hood in a white shirt to top up oil. I wish everyone as few car problems as possible and good luck on the roads!
