The initial day of the Paris Motor Show is undoubtedly the most significant premiere event. The latest BMW 3 Series is showcased here in all its glory. For those who closely monitor BMW, the exterior of the latest 3 series will not come as a surprise. With the premiere now behind us, the latest 3 series has made its way into the news, allowing you to calmly observe the visual effects and real photos.
Some compared the new 3 series to Lexus, others to Mercedes, while some noted that the front lights resemble Peugeot. However, opinions of commentators changed after the new photos; now BMW is well-received.
Currently, only the sedan version has been presented.
BMW 3 Series Interior
In its interior, there's a new design and gadgets. The cabin configuration is less controversial than the rest of the body. Upon opening the door, take note of the completely new space. Importantly, there is expected to be more room inside the new model compared to its predecessor.
BMW can boast that the headrests and armrests have been increased on the front seats, while the rear offers more comfortable seating and legroom. The trunk now has a volume of 480 liters, with the rear seat folding in proportions of 40:20:40 in the standard configuration.
Additionally, the rear view capability has been enhanced, which is worth appreciating: currently, designers hardly pay attention to this as the driver is provided with a rear-view camera.
Equipment
Focusing on what's visually available, the area displaying data from the Head-Up display has also increased by 70%. Now, instead of traditional clocks, you can use the screen.

However, the most significant novelty in the interior is the brand-new system called BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.
You can see that this type of solution is the latest trend (at the moment) in the premium class. Not long ago, the system called «Hey, Mercedes» boasted the brand from Stuttgart, and now it's time for the Munich competitor.
In short, this is what the manufacturer refers to as the «intelligent digital personality in the car.» You can «talk» to the BMW 3 Series, thereby serving various functions of the infotainment system or air conditioning system and obtaining driving data.
An innovation that sets BMW's solution apart from competitors is the ability to name your assistant — give it a suitable name. This creates a great field for creativity for car owners...
Another new feature is the ability to unlock the locks and start the BMW 3 Series engine remotely using a phone application. It seems that the enlarged button with its own large screen, similar to a smartphone, was an unsuccessful idea. Using the smartphone directly is easier and more convenient.
For the new BMW 3, you can also opt for laser projectors at an additional cost, allowing you to illuminate the road up to 530 meters ahead of the vehicle. Until now, they were only available in the most expensive models of the brand. Recently, progress in automotive lighting has become much more advanced and accessible.
The 3 Series has always been perfect. Will the tradition be upheld this time? A rhetorical question.
The BMW slogan is «Sheer Driving Pleasure,» and the 3rd series will likely be the best performer among the «normal» models of the brand. It would be a shame if the engineers messed it all up. We will only see this during the ride, but BMW certainly guarantees that the new model is the most efficient generation out of all seven.
Features and Advantages
The technological advancements and advantages of the new car have been achieved through:
- an increased wheelbase by 41 mm,
- enhanced aerodynamics,
- a 50% improvement in rigidity,
- and achieving perfect weight distribution, 50:50.
The BMW 3 Series has also excelled in its «diet,» resulting in a weight reduction of 55 kg compared to its predecessor.
BMW 3 Series Engines
Under the hood, there are currently no three-cylinder engines. BMW introduces the new 3 series to the market in six engine versions. Interestingly, there are no three-cylinder units among them. Will they be added to the range later, or have they proven to be a «dead-end» in the case of the 3 series? This is not yet known.
The base (at least for now) petrol version is the 320i. The more powerful version is traditionally known as the 330i. Both of these engines have four cylinders. Interestingly, there are more diesel options here. These include versions 318d, 320d, 320d xDrive (currently the only version with all-wheel drive), and 330d.
The weakest engine of those mentioned has 150 hp, while the most powerful has 265 hp and six cylinders. In the coming months, the range will also be supplemented by a more powerful M Performance version and a plug-in hybrid. The new BMW 3 series will hit the market on March 9, 2019. I won't lie; with the arrival of new models, I look forward to trying it out as soon as possible.
