BMW F10 – a benchmark of beauty and power in its class, considered a benchmark by many car enthusiasts. This is the sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series. The premium-class car was released in 2010. The German concern worked for four years on the creation of this car project. What makes the BMW F10 so unique?
Equipment and Features of BMW F10
The main feature and attraction of the car is the presence of a special iDrive system, even included in the basic configuration. This system not only makes the car easy to handle in any maneuver but also allows you to customize it down to the smallest details.
This option starts from the operation of the car stereo and ends with the door's fit. This is a breakthrough in creating comfort and coziness in the car. In 2010, there were no analogs to this system, and all versions created by other concerns later are more like a Chinese copy of iDrive.
This option also allows for quick and physical-free adjustment of the front seats. You can independently adjust the tilt and height of each detail, or trust the system to find the optimal position on its own.
Another unique feature is the presence of dual-zone climate control. There is also an additional function of pedestrian recognition by the night vision system. Tests have shown that in complete darkness, it can detect movement at a distance of 300 meters, which is very impressive considering that a person in the same conditions can only see a pedestrian at a distance of no more than 30 meters.
Specifications
The BMW 5-series F10 is available on the market with 6 different engines, including 2 diesels and 4 petrol. Among the petrol engines, two variants are additionally equipped with turbochargers, making them very powerful compared to their peers.
Starting with the least powerful among this series, the BMW 523i remains equipped with a 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine with a power of 204 hp. It takes less than 8.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km.
Next in power is the BMW 528i, with a 3.0-liter engine, 258 hp. Acceleration figures are 6.7 seconds to 100 km, the only significant difference being higher fuel consumption and less effort during acceleration moments.
Next in power is the BMW 535i, with a 3.0-liter engine and 300 hp. The turbocharger significantly increases speed and maneuverability even at high engine speeds.
The most agile model among the turbocharged petrol BMW 550i has a V8 engine, the turbocharger allows it to boast 407 hp to the world. However, the concern deemed this insufficient, and in 2013 a facelift occurred, after which the 550i with 445 hp appeared.
The diesel variants 525d and 530d are less exciting but still have sufficient power – 204 hp and 245 hp respectively. The engine volumes are around 2.9 liters.
The transmission in all models is six-speed manual, and the automatic transmission is eight-speed. A feature of the model range is the increased size of the brake discs, contributing to greater manageability and maneuverability.
The standard package includes an energy recuperation system created during braking. Compared to its predecessors in the E60 series, these cars already have a 55% increased body rigidity, confirmed by numerous crash tests.
The suspension adapts to road conditions and the speed of the car, thanks to constant measurement of external parameters. This greatly simplifies the driving process, making it as comfortable as possible.
