BMW 4 F32 is a convenient coupe from the German manufacturer. The authorized details of the fourth series were first released in an official press release on the fifth of December 2012, providing all the details about the plans to replace the current 3 Series coupe, modern and future plans to reorganize the coupe into a more professional one.
In the fourth BMW series, there is also a convertible, which features a retractable hardtop F33 and the Gran Coupe body F36 of the 2014 model line.
The fourth series has retained all the technological qualities in the coupe from the F30 third series. The design is almost the same, except for the two-door + two-door salon construction, and the exterior design is similar to the overall styling of the «three series.»
The wheelbase has been increased to 110.6 inches, an additional two inches more than the third series coupe, and the same amount as the «3 Series» sedan. Similarly, BMW has increased the front wheel track size by an additional 1.8 inches at the front and 3.1 inches at the rear. The fourth series BMW was presented at the North American International Auto Show in January 2013 in Detroit, USA.
BMW 4 F32 Modifications
The range includes four diverse lines: base (ES / SE), luxury, Sport, and M Sport lines. Standard modifications will be easily accessible for all types of the fourth series.
The standard feature (ES / SE line) allows consumers of BMW 4 F32 to select individual functions and sets that they want to equip their vehicle with. As standard equipment, all cars in the basic line of the fourth series have a black remote control with convenient silver trim.
The Luxury Line offers even more richness in the style of the fourth series: alloy wheels, a luxurious car interior trimmed with polished wood of significant species, and leading luxury-class seats. Additionally, the customer will acquire a silver pearl remote control with convenient access, trimmed with a silver stripe as a luxurious addition for the vehicle.
The Sport Line cars of the fourth series are clearly distinguished by their pronounced sporty characteristics: large alloy wheels, seats with red stitching, and front seats designed in a sporty manner — all emphasizing the line to which the BMW 4 F32 belongs. In addition to the car, the customer will acquire a black remote control with convenient access, along with red stripe detailing.
And finally, the M Sport Line cars of the fourth series are adorned with M-style body kits, large alloy wheels, attractive and modern Estoril Blue seats, color accents of the same tone in the exterior, and sporty front seats.
In this set, along with the car, a black remote control with convenient access is provided, trimmed with blue stripes. Estoril Blue is also an exclusive body color for the BMW M Sport Line of the fourth series.
Exterior Appearance
The 4 series is considered the most robust car in terms of style components in the Bavarian manufacturer's lineup. The vehicle attracts interested looks with a very sculpted car hood, spacious tire arches, a front bumper with large sections of light cooling, and large exhaust pipe outlets.
The rear body pillars of the car are quite wide and provide speed profile, but significantly limit the view from the owner's position.
Design of BMW 4 F32
The car's interior looks fascinating due to the main console, which is filled with audio system control buttons and climate assembly. The instrument track is analog, but in the lower part, there is a spacious onboard computer screen projecting an abundance of necessary information. Additionally, navigation, rearview camera image, chassis options, media files, and more are displayed on the iDrive system screen.
In terms of ergonomics, there is no room for complaint. The position of the control instruments is clear at a subconscious level and does not distract from the road. However, the view backward, in addition to the spacious body pillars of the car, is burdened by small side mirrors.
The driver's seat with a low seating position is practical and sets the tone for an active drive. The extensive range of adjustments in the longitudinal plane and the angle of the backrest favorably influence the comfortable arrangement of the driver.
On Wheels
The most sought-after model on the market is the 420i variant. Directly under the car's hood, this BMW fourth series houses a two-liter turbo engine (184 horsepower) that operates on gasoline fuel. The unit is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The dynamism of the BMW 420i allows for excellent performance both in the city and on the highway. The engine stands out for its good responsiveness, starting from low revs, and can reach its peak potential in the range of 4800—6000 rpm. The sporty sensations are justified by the responsive accelerator pedal and the increased performance of the automatic transmission. The gear ratios are very short, allowing for rapid acceleration.
The test drive of the BMW 4 F32 revealed that the rear-wheel drive and low center of gravity are a great combination for driving enjoyment. In turns, the stability is high, while the maneuverability is close to neutral. The steering response is quite responsive to the driver's adjustments and remains informative in various driving modes.
The BMW fourth series brakes firmly and effectively. It is worth noting the high durability of the brake discs at high temperatures, as well as the clear pressure on the brake pedal.
