BMW 7 series, models G11, G12

The Munich Motor Show unveiled the sixth generation of BMW 7 G11, G12 sedans, both elongated and standard. In the same year, in the summer, from July 1st, they were put on the assembly line.

The designers approached the outer appearance of the cars with a special tactic to emphasize aggressiveness and modernity. Fans were divided into two camps: some liked the designs, while others criticized them. However, the Bavarians know their craft, so the aggressive look eventually gained acceptance in the car market.

• Hoods with relief patterns down the center.
• Headlights with a sleek exterior featuring narrow LED lights.
• Grilles with chrome finishes between them.
• The front bumpers stand out with their robust forms.
• At the bottom, there are fog lights with chrome inserts.
• Standard splitters are located on the front bumpers. They also have chrome embellishments.
• The side sections feature chrome elements.
• The wheel arches cannot be called wide.
• Thanks to aggressive lines in the upper body areas, BMW 7 G11, G12 exude boldness.
• Large chrome inserts run along the bottom of the bodies. Chrome is also present in the window surrounds.
• The rear ends are both beautiful and aggressive.
• The trunk lids are large and have electric drives. They are also adorned with chrome that extends through the rear optical units.
• The rear lighting is done in a classic LED fashion.
• The rear bumpers are characterized by robustness and relief.
• In the lower parts of the rear bumpers, there are exhaust systems with chrome reflectors and pipes.

The cars:

2. Width – 1 m 902.
3. Height – 1 m 467.
4. Wheelbase – 3 m 070.
5. Ground clearance – 13.5 cm.

Extended Long G12 – with a length/height/wheelbase of 5238/1485/3210. The clearance and width remain unchanged.

Bumpers

The relief on the bumpers gives the cars attractiveness and aggressiveness. The side sections feature air intakes, providing adequate ventilation for the brakes, which is crucial for safety.

The lids have electric drives. A wave of the foot under the rear bumpers opens/closes the lids.

Suspension Elements

Important! The front and rear parts of BMW 7 G11, G12 feature pneumatic suspension elements. The cars boast attractive exteriors without compromising functionality on rough road surfaces during movements.

The designers also did a great job on this issue. The cabins have turned out beautiful and modern.

• Leather seats in the front are electrically adjustable in various directions. They are also ventilated and heated.
• Galleries with couches in G11, featuring wide armrests that fold down. In G12, there are 2 seats in the car, divided by large tunnels with compartments for small items, ports, cup holders.
• Passengers in the galleries have multimedia devices.
• In front, the passenger seats fold and move with buttons.
• Drivers have large steering wheels with aluminum, containing numerous buttons.
• Steering wheels with electric adjustments and heating.
• The dashboards are fully electronic, with simulated instruments for those who appreciate older car models.
• Useful information is projected on the windshields, allowing drivers to remain focused.
• Central consoles with large multimedia iDrive screens at 10 inches.
• Volume adjustments, track switching, incoming calls, and more can be carried out with gestures thanks to this system.
• Air deflectors are located under the monitors.
• Beneath them are slots for discs with a small number of buttons.
• These also serve as climate control units, intuitively understandable.
• Wooden tunnels. Sections with lids are specifically designated for cup holders. Small transmission selectors are in the middle of the tunnels.
• Knobs to control multimedia and buttons in the same place.
• Tunnels with buttons for parking brake activation/deactivation and pneumatic suspension settings.
• The sound is perfect, thanks to Bang & Olufsen.
• The trunks are large – 515 liters.

Engines of BMW 7 G11, G12

When serial production began, diesel and gasoline engine options with 4.6 liters and 8 cylinders were offered.

The engines came in three variants as new German developments. Another variant was a modernization from previous models.

There were also cars with hybrid setups.

The base models 730i and their elongated counterparts 730Li. They operated with B48B20, providing the characteristics of BMW 7 G11, with 2.0 liters, four-cylinders, and 258 hp.

740i and 740Li – with six-cylinder units B58B30M0, 3.0 liters, 326 hp, 500 Nm.

750i and 750 Li xDrive are all-wheel-drive cars with eight-cylinder engines N63B44O2. With two turbos, the power output is 450 hp.

730d G11 and 730Ld – with six-cylinder engines N57D30O0, 256 hp.

xDrive all-wheel-drive cars also had the same engines, slightly modernized, with a power of 320 hp. The top diesel variants were powerful, as they worked with engines N57 with four turbos. When released, they stood out in terms of power compared to other engines worldwide, as they had 6 cylinders.

Hybrid cars 740e and their elongated counterparts 740Le. They operated with four-cylinder engines B48B20, 258 hp, and electric motors.

Important! In February 2016, M760Li models with engines N74B66U1, 600 hp, were introduced, and in this case, chip tuning operations were completely unnecessary.

In 2016, Turkey, Korea, Japan, and Europe saw diesel cars 725d and their elongated wheelbase counterparts 725 Ld, with engines B47.

Electronic Equipment

In BMW 7 G11, G12 cars, there are many classic electronic features.

The front parts have adaptive radiator grilles. When the engines are off and during stops, the shutters close automatically. When the cars start moving, they slightly open.

When pressing the accelerator pedals, in hot weather, the opening of the shutters increases. All this was done to improve aerodynamic resistance coefficients.

Many find this confusing because at high speeds, when the shutters open, there is a decrease in coefficients. But the grilles are very beautiful.

Optionally, laser headlights can be installed. They have blue inserts and the inscription «Laserlight» in the front. The cars illuminate the road with high beams, without blinding oncoming vehicles.

Important! With conventional instruments, visibility is up to 300 meters, with laser lights it is up to 600 meters.

The rear parts of the cars only gained electrically operated trunk lids.

BMW 7 G11, G12 come with 2 sets of keys. Additional and main ones. Main keys are for door closure checks and remote parking. There are many options associated with them.
