Despite creating a prototype, BMW decided to suspend the M8 project. However, times have changed, and falling behind the competition is not an option. Therefore, BMW has set the price, revealed the specifications, and announced the release date of the new flagship 8 Series Coupe sports cars.
They come with stunning exterior and technical features. These cars went on sale in the middle of autumn 2018, competing with Lexus LC500, Mercedes S-Class Coupe, and Jaguar F-Type.
BMW 8 Gran Coupe G15 Sedan Body
The BMW 8 G15 was first showcased at an Italian auto show. With a sleek design and a bold appearance resembling a shark's face.
The cars feature wide grilles with valves that close to smooth airflow at speed, thus saving fuel. They are surrounded by LEDs. Optionally, laser headlights with a range of 600m can be used.
Large spoilers with big air intakes.
Front wheels with gills and flat lower parts that work well for aerodynamics.
The cars boast a muscular appearance, thanks to the slants around the front and rear wheels.

When looking at the regular «8» models, one immediately envisions the M8. It also helps that BMW decided to work on the «8» and give them the finishing touches of M850i. These models showcase the difference between standard coupes and the M8.
They share identical front ends above the bumpers with wide grilles and narrow lighting with sharp angles.
However, the base models have chrome grilles, whereas the M8 has black ones.

Engines of BMW 8 G15
Under the hood, one of two engine options is available.
In the BMW 8 G15 G14, you can choose between petrol or diesel engines.
The M850i models come with petrol twin-turbo 4.4L V8 engines. They are similar to the engines in the latest M5 models but with 530 horsepower instead of 600, accelerating in 3.7 seconds. The turbochargers contribute to a torque of 750Nm at 1800 rpm.
The diesel 640d models come with three-liter engines with 320 hp. These cars can accelerate in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h.
All engines are paired with eight-speed automatic transmissions.
During cruising, gears can be quickly shifted manually, resulting in noticeable changes in the car's performance. The transmissions are linked to satellite navigation systems, aiding gear shifts for braking when approaching intersections.
The BMW 8 G15 models are all-wheel drive, allowing power reduction on slippery, wet road surfaces. During regular trips, power is transferred to the rear wheels to save fuel.
The system modules can be adjusted for sharp turns if you wish to test your luck on the track. The Series Coupe cars are very agile because their roofs, doors, and hoods are made of aluminum. The front crosspieces also serve to separate the engines from the cabins. Additionally, the cars feature components made of carbon fiber and magnesium. In the M eights, identical layouts are seen with wide consoles extending to the instrument panels to divide the zones of the cars for drivers and front passengers.

Upon request, M8 models can be equipped with graphics, dials, and devices for sporty driving. Aluminum finishes are standard in the base cars. However, carbon elements can be added to the optional lists.
Sporty seats can be racing-style with firm support. The front seats can fold with backrests to easily access the rear passenger spaces.
Leather and Alcantara trims are standard. The M8 models will have black interiors, while the regular eights will offer various upholstery colors, including two-tone options.

The cars have spacious trunks, positions of which can be controlled through the Comfort Access Pack. The tailgate can be stored in the floor to accommodate long cargo.
There are many compartments in the cars to store hand luggage. It can be placed in large compartments on the doors, glove boxes, and the front central armrest. There are also two cup holders available in the cars.
Technological Aspect
The company has announced that the cars come with enhanced versions of the 4.4L V8 engines, available in the M850i xDrive models, with up to 530 hp. These all-wheel-drive cars have individual 2WD modes. Fuel consumption ranges from 10.7 to 10.8 liters, with CO2 emissions from 243 to 246 g.
Additionally, the cars can optionally be equipped with V12 twin-turbo engines from the M760Li models, with 6.6L and 600 hp, 590 Nm, paired with automatic transmissions.

In base cars, there are automatic cruise controls,
emergency braking to engage the brakes if there is a collision threat, detected by a camera on the windshield.
These variants include:

Sales began on November 24, 2018. Diesel 840i xDrive cars were priced at 6,720,000 rubles. Petrol 850i cars were priced at 8,640,000 rubles.
