Powertrain
The new generation Active Hybrid in the third series combines a six-cylinder power unit, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery. The N55B30 engine, with a power of 306 horsepower and a TwinPowerTurbo system, similar to the one installed in the 335i F30 model.
The electric motor can deliver 54 horsepower, approximately 40 kW. It is powered by lithium-ion batteries, which are integrated with the trunk compartment. This model accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, with average fuel consumption of 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers.
Transmission of ActiveHybrid 3
The BMW ActiveHybrid 3 is equipped with a six-cylinder TwinPowerTurbo unit, which is in close contact with an electric motor and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
However, the hybrid nature of this model lies not only in its construction and fairly high sports performance but also in fuel efficiency, which far exceeds previous versions.

Significant performance enhancement has also occurred thanks to the specialized energy control system ECO PRO. To fully utilize all the capabilities of Active Hybrid, the ECO PRO system applies a vast number of innovative functions for the most efficient drive operation.
The lithium-ion battery is charged, in the vast majority, during coasting and braking, with the electric motor serving as a generator in this system, which powers the battery and assists with acceleration.
When driving the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 up to 160 km/h, with the ECO PRO system activated, the internal combustion engine can be completely switched off, as this mode allows for comfortable driving using accumulated kinetic energy. To prevent the engine from idling, for example, at traffic lights, the Active Hybrid system activates the Start-Stop function.
All the car's electronics interact with the Professional navigation system, which significantly improves the quality of the trip by analyzing the road conditions. For this Hybrid model, as well as for other models in this line, four equipment packages are available – SportLine, ModernLine, LuxuryLine, and MSportPackage. The equipment package determines the color, interior trim, and additional elements.
It is worth noting that the BMW 3 Hybrid, in addition to the standard equipment, features a dual-zone climate control with air conditioning function.
Also, to assist the driver, a RearViewCamera and SurroundView rear camera, ParkAssistant parking sensors, RealTimeTrafficInformation road situation informer, BMW application, BluetoothOffice, Trafficsignrecognition, and Professional navigator are provided.
