The BMW E93 embodies strength, power, and grace. A lightweight car with excellent off-road capability and a massive suspension is the perfect solution for both strong men and delicate women. Exquisite forms charm and attract attention, while thoughtfully designed elements complement the overall look of the car.
Many convertible manufacturers have tried to replicate these forms with all their lushness and simplicity, but alas, this car is one of a kind.
It saw the world in 2007, and in 2010, an improved version was released, gaining unprecedented fame. Initially, the model was invented as a replacement for the outdated BMW E46. This decision was quite successful and gained popularity among BMW power enthusiasts.
Signature Design of BMW E93
The recognizable BMW design is what always sets cars apart from the rest. Starting from the seating position and ending with the «angel eyes,» as car enthusiasts have long called them, with quality bi-xenon. Special LED technology provides the car with sufficient light for trips in fog and rain. Although for most drivers, this car is more associated with a sunny edge, a perpetually open roof, and a hot road.
Falling in love with the LED lighting is simply impossible, especially if you encounter this beauty on the road at night. Optimal lighting, depending on the road incline and relief, is provided by the dynamic headlight adjustment.
The BMW E93 is designed as a bright representative of the first class, so the use of LEDs on the daytime running lights as side lights and rear stop signals is particularly well thought out. Streamlined forms add refined elegance to the overall appearance of the car both in the daytime and at night. In addition to the beautiful exterior, the headlights are not devoid of functionality and are clearly visible in any weather.
The design of the roof and trunk compartment is well thought out, so even when the car is assembled as a convertible, there is plenty of space for personal belongings. The trunk is divided into two separate areas — the luggage compartment and the roof storage, so assembling and lowering the roof is only possible with the trunk closed.
But the roof folds up very compactly and does not take up much space, leaving enough room even for a large folded tent.
In any case, even with the roof up, a few travel bags will definitely fit. If the roof is down, the trunk volume will be 210 liters, and if it is up, 350 liters.
Interior Features
A special safety system for rear passengers, the «Roll-Over bars,» activates in seconds in the event of an accident or difficulties on the road. It is capable of saving passengers' lives even in fairly complex accidents.
It starts automatically and helps the car remain more intact. In normal driving mode, it ensures passenger safety when driving with the roof down.
Among the innovations is a special type of leather treatment for the interior, which helps it reflect up to 70% of solar energy, remaining pleasantly cool and not losing color. This is especially noticeable during long drives with the roof open in the summer.
Sporty steering wheel and gear lever add luxury. The smooth lines of all panels and decorative trim harmoniously blend into the overall interior of the car.

Sport Automatic Transmission
Another feature of the BMW E93 convertible is the 7-speed sport automatic transmission. The dual-clutch switches between two transmissions. Gears between them are distributed by parity/oddity, so if the car accelerates on an odd gear, an even one is also engaged.
This system ensures smooth shifting and a smooth ride for the BMW E93, without jerks or delays.
Moreover, the switching itself occurs very quickly, practically like in traditional sports cars. The bonus is that quick shifting can save up to 0.2 liters of gasoline per 100 km with an automatic transmission.
There are also paddle shifters that allow you to coordinate gear operation, shift them without changing hand positions on the wheel. Braking is done by decreasing the gear and simultaneously increasing the tire grip of the rear wheels on the asphalt. Even during emergency braking, the car maintains maximum stability.
BMW E93 LCI
A little later, in 2010, the E93 convertible received a facelift version with excellent characteristics and an even more attractive exterior.
Standard Equipment of BMW E93
Essentially, braking means losing kinetic energy, which is very undesirable. However, the special Brake Energy Regeneration system allows you not to lose energy but to convert it for battery charging.
When the driver brakes, the generator automatically throws the remaining energy into charging, converting it from kinetic to electric. As a result, the battery works for a long time, and CO2 emissions into the atmosphere are reduced.
Among the novelties in the car's management is the system that shuts off the engine if the car is stationary for a long period. That is, if the car is stuck in traffic or the driver stops at a drive-thru, the engine automatically dims to reduce fuel consumption.
But at the slightest press of the pedal, it returns to operation with the necessary revs. Information is displayed on the screen about which gear is currently being used and is the most economical and optimal.
The steering wheel is improved with hydraulics powered by the engine.
The electromechanical power steering is only engaged in specific cases to reduce fuel consumption when making turns and tilts. If the car is driving straight in the specified direction, hydraulics are not used.
For the BMW E93, there are additional individual configurations: M Sport Edition, Edition Exclusive, Individual, and M Sport Package.
