BMW 6 Series Convertibles F12

The BMW 6 F12 cars belong to the Gran Turismo class. This class includes the Gran Coupe coupe with variations like Convertible and the sporty M6. This is the third generation of the BMW 6 series. The first one was showcased in 1976. The cars were unveiled at the French auto show in 2010. They were welcomed by the global market a year later from Shanghai and New York. Currently, their assembly continues in Germany, in the city of Dingolfing.

The roofs are operated by buttons on the instrument panel. They can also be controlled remotely with Comfort Access packages. They open in 19 seconds and close in 24 seconds at a speed of 40 km/h.

The six-cylinder power units, working on Twin Power Turbo gasoline under No. 55 V 30, with direct injections, on 3.4 L engines are used in the 640i. The cars have Valvetronic mechanisms. 320 hp with acceleration of 5.2 seconds.

The engines under No. 57 in the 640d, with 3.2 L and 313 hp. Diesel engines are economical. In petrol cars, consumption ranges from 8.1 to 11.3 L per 100 km. In diesel, it is 5.8 L. All engines comply with Euro 6 standards.

Important! To increase power characteristics and reduce fuel consumption, chip tuning is performed. Electronic control unit modes are adjusted by changing original programs.

The sports eight-speed «automatic» transmissions work with all units. The cars have steering wheel paddles that allow manual gear shifting. iDrive dynamic control mechanisms allow adjusting driving modes with buttons on the instrument panel.

The convertibles have intelligent all-wheel-drive gearboxes. Thanks to independent multi-linkages, the cars have high driving characteristics. In some models, there are sets for adjusting the suspension stiffness, AdaptiveDrive suspension control mechanisms.

Restyling and facelift of the BMW 6 F12

In 2016, the cars received changes. The lighting became LED and compact. The bumpers, radiator grilles, exhaust pipes, and wheels were slightly modified. The cars with petrol engines were equipped with sporty exhausts. However, the engines themselves remained the same.
