The BMW 6 F12 cars belong to the Gran Turismo class. This class includes the Gran Coupe coupe with variations like Convertible and the sporty M6. This is the third generation of the BMW 6 series. The first one was showcased in 1976. The cars were unveiled at the French auto show in 2010. They were welcomed by the global market a year later from Shanghai and New York. The roofs are operated by buttons on the instrument panel. They can also be controlled remotely with Comfort Access packages. They open in 19 seconds and close in 24 seconds at a speed of 40 km/h.

They have aerodynamically designed skirts, making it easy to make turns at high speeds. The skirts add aggressiveness to the BMW 6 F12.
Wheel arches
They are significantly widened to ensure maximum ventilation for the braking systems and to improve aerodynamic performance. The cars stop quickly without much effort.

To improve handling, the cars have tires of different sizes. The front tires are 265 with 19-inch rims, while the rear tires are 295/35 with 19-inch rims. Optionally, 20-inch tires can be installed.
Interior
In the four-seater BMW 6 F12 convertibles, there is more space due to the increased wheelbase dimensions. Rear passengers no longer bump their knees against the front seats.
The car interiors are done in black tones with ceramic controllers for managing iDrive, 7-inch screens for onboard computers. The monitors display important information for drivers, with glass casings and frames covered in galvanizing.

The salons have rich leather finishes combined with wooden and aluminum elements. The base models of the BMW 6 F12 come with Dakota leather upholstery. The exclusive ones come with Nappa leather in four color shades.
There are compartments for small items and gadgets in the front. Cup holders near the armrests in the front and rear parts of the car. The color range has expanded and now includes 11 shades.
The trunks have a capacity of 348 liters. Below them are compartments with tool kits and repair kits.
Engines of the BMW 6 F12
The convertibles come in three variations: two gasoline and one diesel.
The most powerful eight-cylinder engines, V-shaped No. 63 V 44, with an installation on the 650i with a 4.4 L engine. They deliver 407 hp and accelerate in 4.8 seconds.
The six-cylinder power units, working on Twin Power Turbo gasoline under No. 55 V 30, with direct injections, on 3.4 L engines are used in the 640i. The cars have Valvetronic mechanisms. 320 hp with acceleration of 5.2 seconds.
The engines under No. 57 in the 640d, with 3.2 L and 313 hp. Diesel engines are economical. In petrol cars, consumption ranges from 8.1 to 11.3 L per 100 km. In diesel, it is 5.8 L. All engines comply with Euro 6 standards.
Important! To increase power characteristics and reduce fuel consumption, chip tuning is performed. Electronic control unit modes are adjusted by changing original programs.

The convertibles have intelligent all-wheel-drive gearboxes. Thanks to independent multi-linkages, the cars have high driving characteristics. In some models, there are sets for adjusting the suspension stiffness, AdaptiveDrive suspension control mechanisms.

In 2016, the cars received changes. The lighting became LED and compact. The bumpers, radiator grilles, exhaust pipes, and wheels were slightly modified. The cars with petrol engines were equipped with sporty exhausts. However, the engines themselves remained the same.
