BMW 5 GT Review: Speed and Comfort
Recently purchased the car, and have no complaints about the speed capabilities of the model. The car is agile, with rapid acceleration and a confident start. Speed is gained briskly and smoothly. There are no jerks or jolts.
The BMW 5 GT can almost outpace most cars on the road right from the start.
There are no issues with handling either. The car responds well at any speed, smoothly navigates corners, and quickly reacts to any changes in steering commands. There is another plus.
Even at high speeds, the car maintains excellent maneuverability. It provides stable and reliable movement even during «city races.»
The braking system is also impeccable, with braking reliability deserving high praise.
BMW 5-series Gran Turismo Review
At first glance, I understood that the car is superb, with its exterior immediately hinting at good dynamics and reliability. The car looks sporty, powerful, and fast, while also exuding hints of premium quality.
The BMW 5 Gran Turismo looks quite impressive. The predatory look of the headlights speaks of high dynamics and impressive speed characteristics. The streamlined forms indicate low resistance to the oncoming airflow, and indeed, the dynamic characteristics of the car itself are excellent.
While the interior predominantly features plastic elements, they do not raise any objections. The elements fit together perfectly.
One advantage of the model is the convenient ergonomics. For accessing many options, buttons on the steering wheel can be used.
The car is equipped with:
- climate control;
- onboard computer;
- a decent multimedia system.
Operating the onboard computer is intuitive. The menu is straightforward, allowing you to configure necessary options in a short time. While there is no zoning for climate control in the car, the system overall ensures comfortable movement even in the hottest conditions.
The quality of the multimedia system is excellent. The sound is distortion-free. While the stock speakers and stereo may not compare to top offerings from specialized companies, the flexibility of settings allows achieving superb sound quality.
The quality of sound insulation is also top-notch. Road noise does not penetrate into the cabin. Besides the engine rumble, nothing else is audible.
The sporty character of the car is also evident in the seats. The driver's and passenger's seats have developed lateral support, securely holding the back and preventing body deviations during sharp maneuvers. The seats have 2 adjustment systems:
- position relative to the front panel (closer/farther);
- backrest angle.
This allows achieving high travel comfort. The back does not stiffen or tire even after long drives.
BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo Review
The car is urban. There is no need to speak of any significant off-road capabilities. Even a dirt road to a country house can pose a serious challenge. The car feels perfectly at home on highways and city roads with solid asphalt pavement.
The car is available with full and rear-wheel drive. Following a friend's advice, I bought the rear-wheel-drive version and have not regretted it. The reason is the low ground clearance. With minimal road clearance, all-wheel drive is unnecessary. It is said that it increases fuel consumption and maintenance costs of the car.
The main advantage of all-wheel drive is its off-road capability. With minimal clearance, this advantage is simply lost.
There are no complaints regarding the trunk capacity. I once had to transport fairly large items measuring 3 meters in length.
BMW Engine is not picky about fuel quality or engine oil. However, it is still advisable not to use blatant counterfeits in the system. Fuel consumption is high.
However, the most crucial factor is power. The car has an abundance of horsepower.
Dealing with maintenance for BMW 5 GT can be tricky. While it may be cheaper compared to Lexus, original parts are still expensive. Moreover, often the necessary parts are simply not in stock. Sometimes, components need to be ordered from other countries. And the cost of repairs bites, with service centers «skinning» at least one hide.
Nevertheless, the presented car from the Bavarian company has turned out to be quite decent overall. The car is reliable, comfortable, and fast.
