About the Model

The 5 Series BMW cars in the E34 body were produced and sold from 1988 to 1995, with the Touring model continuing until 1996. The introduction of this model aimed to replace the 5 Series in the E28 body in 1988, and it was later replaced by the E39 model.

The development of this model began by BMW in 1981, in July. Specifications design choices were made in 1982. The complete development of the car was done by the middle of 1985, and it went into production in the fall of 1987.

The BMW E34 managed to combine the brand's traditions with more modern technologies. It featured the standard BMW rear-wheel drive and a straight-six engine under the hood, allowing for smoother power transmission from the engine and better weight distribution.

The updated fifth series demonstrated a much higher degree of aerodynamics than the previous E28 version, while maintaining an aggressive exterior look, less rounded compared to cars from competing companies.

The BMW E34 in the 34 body became one of the most reliable on the car market at that time and is considered so even today. Additionally, the new 5 Series was recognized as one of the safest due to the presence of airbags, ABS system, and increased body rigidity, providing a high level of protection in case of an accident.

Review of BMW 5 E34

The chassis used in the «five» provides an excellent balance of comfort and handling, with BMW's typical inclination towards the latter.

The entire interior design is primarily focused on the driver's comfort. The instrument panel is conveniently oriented. The layout is designed to ensure comfortable seating in the front.

The suspension in the car is not overly soft, but when driving on high-quality surfaces, it can provide sufficient comfort. Visibility in the front is good, while the rear leaves something to be desired.

The trunk lid contains a complete set of tools. The brakes also offer powerful deceleration and excellent feedback.

Review of BMW E34 3 Series

I want to share my experience with my BMW E34 (engine 2.5 liters). It possesses characteristics such as dynamism and swiftness inherent in every detail. The downside of this beauty is its low resistance to corrosion, even undamaged parts can rust.

The weakest areas are the sills and the right rear wing, near the fuel tank flap.

The interior is quite satisfactory, everything is designed for comfort, with high-quality finishing materials. There are no squeaks or extraneous sounds, the adjustments are clear, making long trips easy.

The power unit and other devices are in excellent condition, if well maintained, there are hardly any rivals on the road. Gear shifts are precise, with the only drawback being the rapid wear of the gear lever with the appearance of play.

The electrical instruments and wiring are well done.

The braking system includes disc brakes and ABS, the braking process is pleasant, everything works perfectly. Replacing brake pads is straightforward, the only inconvenience may come from the handbrake pads sticking.

Fuel consumption ranges from 10 liters per 100 kilometers. It's hard to drive slowly in this car, it encourages a fast and dynamic driving style.
