Bavarians have unveiled the new sports cars BMW M8 of 2019—2020. They were crafted using the foundational element of the 8th generation with the G15 body. The family made its debut as coupes and convertibles.
The cars for sale are presented as simple means of transportation and as extreme vehicles with the Competition series.
Later on, developers plan to surprise with the sedan body BMW M8 Gran Coupe, which will complete the lineup of the 8th generation M series.
Prices of BMW M8
The prices for Competition cars, equipped with turbocharged 4.4 M V8 engines delivering 625 hp and a torque of 750 Nm, have already been announced.
They offer the BMW M8 Competition Coupe for 168,000 euros, and the BMW M8 Competition Cabriolet for 176,000 euros.
The packages and prices of BMW M8 in rubles for Russian car enthusiasts:
- For the BMW M8 Coupe — 10,790,000 rubles;
- Convertible — 11,750,000 rubles;
- Competition Coupe — 12,500,000 rubles;
- Competition Convertible — 13,300,000 rubles.
Mercedes-AMG S 63 4Matic in Russian regions costs almost the same, with 612 hp 4.0 V8 (12,680,000 rubles). Slightly cheaper options include the similarly formatted 477 hp Lexus LC 500 (8,240,000 rubles) and the 570 hp Nissan GT-R (7,626,000 rubles).
Exterior of BMW M8
The new BMW M8 cars embody strength, luxury, and excellent aerodynamic components. The «M» body panels were borrowed from the base «M8». Unique components were also utilized.
The cars received:
- bold, swift bumpers;
- optimized mirror shapes for rear view;
- ventilation in the form of gills behind the wheel arches;
- spoilers.
At the rear, the most «ferocious» variants of the BMW M8 series can be recognized by the protruding 4 round exhaust pipes, grouped in pairs for the exhaust system, with a diameter of 10 cm.
The exhaust mechanisms feature individual valves with electronics. Their function is to alter sounds during the operation of the engine (M Sound Control device).
The Competition cars are adorned with black gloss decoration:
- on the radiator grilles;
- accents on the air intakes, mirrors, diffusers.
In the M Carbon packages, the same components are provided, only in carbon plastic execution.
BMW M8 coupe cars with carbon roofs are offered for an additional fee. The Convertible cars are made with a soft top.
For their finishing, materials from layered, dense, high-quality fabric are used. When the car roofs are retracted, they precisely mimic the silhouettes of cars with the same rigid surfaces. The folding roofs can be opened/closed with an electric drive in a few seconds. It can be done while driving, but with a speed limit of up to — 50 km/h.

The wheelbase is 2827 mm, and the track widths are 1627 and 1632 mm for the chassis.
The powerful arches house 20-inch non-stamped discs. The tires have dimensions of 275/35 R20 (front) and 285/35 R20 (rear).

- The M8 sports cars are equipped with multifunctional steering wheels.
- They have programmable red devices in the form of M1 and M2 buttons.
- Interactive dashboards.
- Multimedia devices with 7.0 operating system and a 10.25-inch monitor.
- The seats have built-in headrests with glowing «M8» logos.
- The central longitudinal protrusions next to the driver contain control devices.
- Key elements for the operation of the transmission with Drivelogic, M Mode switches for various driving modes.
Devices in the form of Setup keys to display special graphical menus on monitors, providing information about the status of:
- components;
- suspension elements in the form of suspensions;
- drives;
- steering mechanisms.
In standard configurations, BMW M8s are upholstered with Merino leather in two color options.
The Competition cars are upholstered with these materials or with a combination of upholstery. In case of a combination, contrasting trim is applied in central parts of the seats, doors, and seams.

Technical Specifications of BMW M8
The two-door Coupe and Convertible cars are close to the sedan class — «M5.» The M8 Coupe Competition and M8 Convertible Competition, to the M5 Competition.
This means that the entire fantastic quartet is equipped with turbocharged engines with a V configuration, 4.4, eight-speed automatic transmissions — Steptronic M, and M x Drive all-wheel drives, which manage WD2 torque moments and transmit power to the rear axles.
The base coupes and convertibles were released with 600 hp and a torque of 750 Nm.
The Competition cars have 625 hp with 750 Nm of torque.
Acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.3 and 3.2 seconds.
For the car versions with open bodies Convertible, aerodynamic capabilities are slightly reduced by 0.1 second. Acceleration is capped at 250 km/h.
The M Driver’s packages reach a top speed of 305 km/h.
The cars have 6-piston front and 1-piston rear brake mechanisms. The discs have diameters of 395 and 380 mm. Optionally, carbon-ceramic brake devices are installed, with front discs at 400 mm.
Thanks to the all-wheel drive, cars with 3 working transmission modes: 4WD, 4WD Sport
The rear wheels take on a significant load.
2WD completely disengages the front axle drive.
The ModeM buttons allow for switching between: Road, Sport, and Track modes (for Competition).
Moreover, individual settings for any details and mechanisms in the car can be changed separately.
