New BMW, news
The Bavarian brand “BMW” has always surprised its fans with the high quality of car assembly and their functionality. Many new BMW models are released with hybrid engines, which have a clear advantage over traditional diesel, and even gasoline.
But if previously the hybrid was available only as an option, for an additional fee, then from February the designers plan to launch the 3 series line (including SUVs with the abbreviation X3) with a hybrid installed by default, in the basic configuration.
But models with “roadster” and “coupe” bodies (in particular M and I series), on the contrary, will lose hybrid power units. They will be replaced by similar, in terms of power, diesel engines, paired with an automatic transmission or CVT.
What new BMW models are planned for the future
Having focused on local changes in the model range, the BMW concern has somewhat deviated from its plans set for 2020. The most striking example is the refusal of the BMW management to build a plant in the Russian Federation. But the official reason for this decision of the Bavarian concern will be the complicated financial situation observed on the domestic Russian market.
Despite the bad news, the BMW manufacturer can boast of its next brainchild, called “X2”. This hybrid crossover was built in 2019, based on the popular X6M model, but with minor local changes to the exterior.
The designers call its main highlight an improved electric motor, capable of covering about 60 km without recharging.
But there is also a bad side to the release of the new X2 model. In order not to expand the already solid model range, the BMW manufacturer decided to remove the BMW 3-Series Grand Turismo from the assembly line.
According to him, the presented prototype is “niche”, and therefore its reduction will not affect the number of export sales of the company.
And the most anticipated news for BMW fans in 2020 will be the confrontation between two Bavarian brands. In an attempt to respond to the Porsche concern, which released a model with an electric motor called the Taycan, BMW designers assembled their own sports sedan in 1 year, giving it the index i6. Unlike its competitor, the BMW i6 model will be equipped with all-wheel drive and two powerful engines, providing it with dynamic acceleration and very good cross-country ability. But the massive dimensions of the new BMW will become a characteristic feature, and, according to engineers, they will not affect the characteristics of the car in any way.
