Review of the BMW X1 F48

Following the production of 730 thousand first-generation X1 E84 cars, the manufacturer decided to focus on building second-generation BMW X1 F48 vehicles, which were presented in 2015 (early autumn) at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Just a month later, car enthusiasts in Europe, and later in Russia, received these cars from the city of Regensburg, where they were assembled.

The manufacturer chose to utilize the UKL1 construction platform with transverse engines and front-wheel-drive systems. These cars are available in all-wheel-drive (xDrive) and front-wheel-drive (sDrive) versions.

  • The lower body parameters are adorned with plastic protective trim.
  • Sporting stylish bumpers, the BMW X1 F48 boasts wide air ducts on the sides.
  • Distinctive radiator grilles with vertical slats.
  • Thanks to reduced angel eyes, the LED optics now have a squinted appearance. Below them, fog lights are installed.
  • At the rear, the cars are equipped with trendy taillights, unconventional bumpers, fog lights, and dual exhaust pipes. Chrome-tipped embellishments adorn the sides.
  • The roof fins have been lowered.
  • The wheel arches of the BMW X1 F48 have gained strength.
  • Unique design of lightweight alloy wheels with R17, optionally available in (18, 19).

BMW X1 F48

The BMW X1 F48 features small screens that can be upgraded to widescreen NBT displays for enhanced navigation. Touch-enabled joysticks can aid in navigation within the car.

To simplify navigation, cars may be equipped with joysticks with touch capabilities.

Main device components can be integrated as NBT EVO X1 F48, already featuring Interface Design 5. The mechanisms of the crossovers will synchronize with iDrive controllers, displays, and microphones.

Technological Components

Initially, the cars were equipped with 5/4-cylinder units with 2.0 L petrol and 3.0 diesel engines. Later, 3-cylinder engines with petrol B38 and diesel B37 were used. All units comply with Euro 6 environmental standards.

BMW X1 F48 Petrol Engines

  • The 18i Sdrive models have 136 hp B38 engines with a capacity of 1.5 L. They offer acceleration of 9.7 sec/100 km, a top speed of 204 km/h, and a fuel consumption of 5.1 L. While these cars exhibit good dynamics and low fuel consumption, drivers still prefer the 2.0 L engines.
  • The BMW X1 II F48 20i xDrive/sDrive crossover is equipped with 2.0 L engines producing 192 hp B48. With acceleration of 7.5 sec/100 km, a top speed of 224 km/h, and a fuel consumption of 6.3 L.

The BMW X1 ii F48 18d xDrive models are paired with six-speed manual transmissions.

Other cars are equipped with eight-speed automatic transmissions.

The fuel tanks have a capacity of 61 liters.

The cars feature two suspension elements. They operate with independent front suspensions, including two MacPherson struts each, and multi-link rear suspensions. The steering wheels are equipped with Servotronic adaptive efforts.

The cars are fitted with ventilated disc brakes with ABS.

Tuning Operations

As of now, there are no updates. Perhaps a restyling will be planned for this year. In the meantime, chip tuning can be beneficial, involving reprogramming the ECU. This adjustment enhances engine performance and fuel efficiency while optimizing transmission operation.

  • Enhanced engine power and torque.
  • Reduced fuel consumption.
  • Improved transmission functionality.

Important! Through chip tuning, you can achieve powerful engines with precise adjustments to fuel delivery, boosting performance by 40% or more.

However, factory programs and additional equipment should be considered. Gearboxes can shift at lower engine speeds, thereby saving fuel.

tuning of BMW X1 F48

For example, in the X1 F48 crossovers with 2.0 L engines producing 190 hp, tuning can result in increased horsepower (by 68) and torque by 120 Nm. This enhances acceleration dynamics.
