In the 6th version of BMW, there are noticeably few — only 3 generations, one of them being the Gran Coupe BMW 6 F06. From an economic point of view, the sixes are considered an unsuccessful project. They were recognized as unprofitable and costly. The reason for this is that at that time, Europeans were experiencing a fuel crisis. That is why the 8 index was never released, even though the cars were being developed.
The sixes started production in 1976 in the 24th body and were only discontinued in '89. The E63 debuted in 2004. The F06, F13, F12 models started production in 2010. These were convertibles with electric drives for the soft tops and coupes.
The Gran Coupe was revolutionary, coming out slightly later — in 2012. It is about them that we will talk.

These cars are easily recognizable everywhere because of their soft, smooth image, while still preserving Bavarian traditions.
The cars come with adaptive LED optics.
The roofs no longer have the familiar shark fins that served as antennas. Now the antennas have been moved to the trunk lids.
Between the rear windows and the upper parts, stop signals have been placed.
Optical devices
Front lighting with turn signals, of an adaptive nature. It can be automatically adjusted. Where the steering wheel turns, the headlights follow. Even in the basic BMW 6 F06 models, xenon lights are used. This contributes to maximum illumination, switching to low beam when approaching oncoming vehicles.
Automatic mirrors
They have electric drives and fold in parking. This ensures their safety. When the engines are started, they become operational again.
Automatic windshield wipers
They work in such modes because they are connected to rain sensors. Even heavy rainfall will not hinder drivers from calmly controlling the car.
Engines of the BMW 6 F06
The model range is very modest but worthy. The cars are specific. They must be fast, so the smallest engines are the 640 with gasoline and diesel, accelerating in 5.4 sec/100 km per hour. They have the same characteristics.
Important to know! Previously, the last numbers on the badges indicated the engine capacities. This is no longer the case.
The engines with number 55 are upgraded versions of the 54. They are equipped with turbines. The engines are good. The gasoline ones are much better than the diesel ones. They have increased torque. In diesel versions — 640 Nm, in gasoline ones, 120 Newtons per meter less.
There are also engines with number 63 with 4.4 liters. These are V8, twin-turbo engines. During restyling work, they are installed in the top configurations.
In our versions, the cars have 450 hp, compared to the old 410. The dynamics are staggering. The cars accelerate in 4.6 sec. Before the restyling, it was 5 — 5.4 sec.
Important! In M6 versions with number 63, the units are the same, but they are modified. They are problematic for tuning. Even the simplest intervention will not help increase power. They have 560 hp, 680 Nm. Acceleration in 4.2 sec. Without all-wheel drive.

Let's start with a well-thought-out and comfortable gallery. It is very easy to access. For a small build, with a height of 175 — 180, there is plenty of room. In the basic BMW 6 F06 models, there are two-seaters in the back, in the options — three-seaters.
The belts are similar to those in convertibles and coupes, with a separate arrangement.
Headrests with levers that allow the seats to move horizontally.
Galleries with armrests, with covers. Under them are cup holders and compartments.
Also, there are mounting elements for a child seat.
The driver's seats remain the same.

On the right sides, central panels with modifications. Lines are drawn from the upper parts of the dashboards, located in front of the passengers, in the gear shift consoles.
The cars have excellent, convenient paddle shifters. With comfortable steering wheels.
Instrument panels with white-red traditional lighting. In «sport» and «sport+» modes, they are red. In «eco» — blue.
Electronic equipment
The suspensions of the Gran Coupe BMW 6 F06 come with full functionality.
Important! Cars with integral steering. The rear axles can turn at slight angles. When the rear wheels steer in opposite directions to the front ones at 60 km/h, the turning radii become significantly smaller, enhancing maneuverability on narrow roads.
After 60 km/h, the wheels steer towards the front wheels, making it easier to control the cars at high speeds. The cars come with all the technologies for chassis components.
Optionally, the cars are equipped with:

EDC shock absorbers. They are responsible for adjusting the stiffness of the cars, giving them comfortable, sporty characteristics.
What's Special About the BMW 6 F06
These are all-wheel-drive cars with 4 doors. This attracted new admirers. Not everyone needs convertibles. They are used by a limited circle. Coupes are the same. In general, these vehicles are for weekends. Our cars are popular due to the doors and drives.

Important! In front, the cars have excellent side supports and power adjustments.
Auto 4+1, for this, the central armrests fold. But these options are not for long trips.

Restyling of the Gran Coupe BMW 6 F06, pre-restyling
Let's look at the visible differences between 2004 and 2010.
Carbon inserts with Gran Coupe engravings were introduced.
Hoods and rear doors were made of aluminum.
Trunk lids, along with front fenders, are made of plastic.
Side cameras were installed in the front bumpers, facing the front doors. When exiting parking lots with densely parked cars, the «blind spots» are clearly visible.
In terms of safety, this vehicle has a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, compared to the «3» and «5» models.
The bodies were extended by 10.1 cm compared to regular coupes.
The trunk lids can be opened with badges. The handles have a lock shape. Camera devices for rear visibility are integrated into the badges.
The rear seats can be folded down. And the 450L trunk volume turns into 1300L.
The transmission in the Gran Coupe BMW 6 F06 is an 8-speed ZF. Due to the large number of gears, there are fewer shifts felt, making these cars, which belong to the business class, comfortable.
