After owning the car for a year, I decided to write a review. German manufacturers used to make high-quality cars — despite its somewhat dated appearance, it still manages to attract attention. This may be due to its smooth lines, layout, or other parameters.
It is powered by the outdated «six» M20 engine, which, despite its age, allows for brisk driving on the highway. From my own experience, I realized that the optimal speed for this engine starts from 120 km/h, as it accelerates slowly up to 100, but then runs excellently.
The car's layout poses some inconveniences in certain areas. The suspension is of good quality, and if not deliberately abused, it will last quite a long time. It is also worth considering that the car is not new, and each part has its own lifespan.
When using original parts or high-quality alternatives, they have virtually no flaws. All newly installed parts will continue to work for at least another 10 years. Lately, the car has only been pleasing in terms of reliability.
During repairs, it is found that the E30 is like a construction set for adults. The car is quite simple, but its assembly was done in a way that in case of technical issues, the car was taken to a service center instead of attempting self-repairs.
Among the positive qualities, a large number of dismantled parts, reliability, durability, driver and passenger comfort, and maneuverability stand out. The downside is the outdated exterior, and the high cost of original parts.

I would like to write a review of my former car, a 1985 BMW E30. Despite its considerable age, the car has a quite aggressive look and still looks great. The aggressiveness of its appearance cannot leave any car enthusiast indifferent.
The interior of the cabin is a bit cramped, and tall people may not find it very comfortable. However, the driver's seat has a sufficient number of adjustments for comfort. Despite the lack of steering wheel adjustments, they are not needed for comfortable driving.
The dashboard has a classic look and represents the standard for me. In addition, the speedometer's operation is electronic, not cable-driven.
The power unit has a high torque at low revs, and can perform miracles even with increased revs. Overall, the car is comfortable and user-friendly, appealing to most drivers.
Why I like BMW E30 1988
Hello everyone! After reading some reviews about this car, I couldn't resist sharing my thoughts after several years of ownership. It all began with searches, during which the budget size indicated that I could only count on a «bucket of bolts» or a car that required a large amount of financial investment.
I browsed various websites for a long time until I settled on the BMW E30, as its price was reduced, and there was no interest from anyone else except the former owner.
Despite the car being in use for 25 years, its body bottom remained in good condition, as well as other weak spots. The exterior of the body was not that pleasing, with a dent on the wing, a bumper from a VAZ 2114, peeling paint on the hatch, and a deformed hood. I bought it only because the body still looked alive.
Closer to summer, there was a knock in the engine, although the signs were there in the spring. I did not plan for such actions, but I had to carry out a major engine repair due to a spun connecting rod bearing. The total repair cost was 20 thousand rubles, only for parts, machining, and everything else was done by myself.
Speaking about the car overall, it is more than just a car. It has its own internal rage, charisma, and a unique scent in the cabin. It is a myth that this model has a weak chassis, as it has the simplest construction, and with proper care and timely oil changes, there will be no problems.
I plan to install a new M50 engine later and refresh the overall body plan. If you manage to find such a car in good condition, it is worth getting without hesitation. Even though it is not that modern and lacks electronic devices, it will definitely get you to your destination, even if something goes wrong.
