About the Model

The history of the BMW luxury class sedan of the fourth generation, which received the index E65, dates back to 1997 when Chris Bangle, then chief designer of the German company, held a meeting with his colleagues from the American company DesignworksUSA.

The car itself was presented to the public in the fall of 2001 during an auto show in Frankfurt, with sales starting a few months later.

Its longer version, designated as the E66, was first introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2002. In 2005, a refresh was carried out on the Bavarian car, after which it managed to stay on the assembly line for three more years.

The total number of cars belonging to the fourth generation exceeded 330,000 units.

Comparing this car with its predecessors reveals significant changes. It confidently boasts a solid and stylish exterior, combining sculpted forms with a touch of sportiness.

Despite design changes, the car managed to retain its distinctive features, particularly the somewhat aggressive look of the headlights and the radiator grille.

Thanks to well-proportioned dimensions and large wheels, the car exudes style and harmony. Notable features of its rear end include a massive trunk lid and the rear lights extending onto it.

Technical Specifications. The BMW 7 Series offered a wide range of powertrains. They were exclusively paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, transferring power to the rear wheels.

Specifically for this model, two 8-cylinder gasoline engines were developed. The first is a 3.3-liter engine producing 272 hp, while the second is a 4.4-liter engine delivering 333 hp.

Diesel engines were also developed for this model. The German sedan came with enhanced diesel engines with a displacement of 3 and 4.4 liters, delivering 218 and 258 hp, respectively.

Another positive aspect is the car's performance. Even with the least powerful engine, the 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 8.1 seconds, while with the most powerful engine it is 5.5 seconds. The maximum speed ranges from 237 to 250 km/h.

Review of BMW E65 Sedan

The interior design is stylish and attractive, thanks to high ergonomics and the use of natural materials for finishing.

A standout feature of the dashboard is its high informativeness, with additional screens alongside the speedometer and tachometer. The central console looks imposing, housing a color display for the iDrive multimedia and information system.

Moreover, there are minimal buttons on the dashboard, and the functions are controlled through a minimalistic approach.

The front seats boast good layout, featuring side support and numerous electric adjustments. There is ample legroom regardless of the direction.

In the sedan's rear seat, the standard setup accommodates only two passengers comfortably. A third passenger may find it less comfortable due to the high transmission tunnel.

While shoulder and headroom are sufficient, there might be limited knee space. This does not mean legs will press against the front seat backs, but expectations from a car of this class were higher.

The trunk capacity of this model is 500 liters. However, its awkward shape, with a narrow and deep opening, can make transporting large items challenging.

Review of BMW 7 (4.8L)

The primary factor in choosing this car was its 4.8-liter engine producing 367 hp. Everything else is considered as supplementary for its comfortable use.

Driving it on a good road at a decent speed instills confidence due to its dimensions, and the engine power is simply impressive. The braking system works flawlessly, without any hiccups, and gear shifts are smooth.

The car's handling is smooth, and gear changes are imperceptible inside the cabin, even when accelerating a two-ton vehicle to 100 km/h in 6 seconds.

There is a serene ambiance inside the cabin with minimal noise. There are numerous sensors and instruments aimed at maximizing driver and passenger comfort. The owner is highly satisfied with the car.
